Job Summary and Responsibilities

The City of Nashua is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our Division of Public Works in the Wastewater Department as a Collection Systems Operator. This full‑time position operates sewer and catch‑basin cleaning equipment; inspects, maintains, and repairs sanitary sewers, CSOs, pump stations, and storm‑water control structures. The operator performs preventative maintenance on the collection system, responds to emergency calls regarding collection system back‑ups, assists a Collection System Technician, and collects flow data from CSOs and pump stations. The job is Monday through Friday from 6:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., is part of the AFSCME Collective Bargaining Unit, and offers a grade 4 position with a starting hourly rate not to exceed $30.27.

Skills and Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year relevant work experience
• Must possess Grade 1 Collection Systems Certification or have the ability to obtain the Certification within one year of employment
• Must possess CDL‑B License with Tank Endorsement or have the ability to obtain the License/Endorsement within one year of employment
• Proficient in the use of personal computers and software necessary to complete the requirements of this position
• Must complete training for confined space entry, an eight‑hour Hazmat training, and first aid/CPR training
• High School diploma or certified equivalent; experience in lieu of education will be considered
