Job summary

The City of Nashua is seeking a Collection Equipment Operator to join the Division of Public Works in the Solid Waste Department. This full-time role runs Monday through Friday, 6:45 am to 2:45 pm, and operates various trucks for waste, bulky items, recycling, and yard waste collection.

An hourly rate starts at up to $29.20, with benefits including health, disability, life insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off. This position is within the AFSCME unit.

Qualifications

• Must have 6–12 months similar or related work experience.
• Considerable working knowledge of streets within the City.
• A thorough knowledge of hazards and safety equipment involved in the solid waste industry.
• Must have a high school diploma or certified equivalent.
• Must possess a valid CDL-B driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of collection trucks including solid waste, bulky items, recycling and yard waste.
• Conduct daily and routine safety and service inspections on vehicles.
• Ensure vehicles are cleaned and maintained properly.

JOB SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is responsible for operating a variety of different trucks including but not limited to solid waste, bulky items, recycling and yard waste collection trucks. Duties include collecting all types of waste, performing daily and routine safety and service inspections on vehicles and ensuring vehicles are properly cleaned and maintained. This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 6:45 am to 2:45 pm, is part of the AFSCME Collective Bargaining Unit, and provides an excellent work life balance. The position is grade 3, with a starting hourly rate not to exceed $29.20.
