Job summary

SPC Construction in the NY/NJ metropolitan area is seeking an experienced Estimator to prepare project estimates by analyzing specifications and contract plans to ensure cost-effective quantities and construction methods align with pursuit, schedule, and price goals.

You will review drawings, solicit subcontractor and supplier pricing, incorporate historical data, and provide input on risks to support competitive bids and final award decisions.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of experience in construction estimating or cost control.
• Proficiency with HCSS Heavy Bid Estimating Software.
• Strong technical writing skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope and content of the estimate.
• Incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity reports into unit and hour figures.
• Provide input on project risks to ensure the estimate aligns with schedule and cost goals.
• Prepare discipline estimates by full takeoffs and quantity calculations from drawings.
• Monitor addenda and advise changes during the estimate period.
• Assist with design reviews and recommend cost-effective solutions.
• Collaborate with the team to hand off projects between pursuit and management.
