Job summary

EFP, LLC. is seeking a Thermal Packaging Engineer to lead cold chain packaging design and testing at the La Vergne, TN laboratory.

You will execute thermal test plans, manage pack-outs, and drive product development from requirements through launch readiness while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Collaborate with Product Management, Sales, Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain to deliver scalable, cost-competitive packaging systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering or closely related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in thermal packaging, cold chain packaging, or package performance testing.
• Demonstrated experience in product development from requirements through launch, including prototypes, testing cycles, design revisions, and release documentation.
• Working knowledge of heat transfer principles, thermal resistance, convection pathways, and refrigerant conditioning.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute thermal test plans for cold chain packaging systems (EPS, EPP, PUR, VIP-based shippers, fiber insulation, refrigerants).
• Run standardized and customer-specific test profiles with proper instrumentation and data integrity.
• Maintain build documentation (BOMs, assembly instructions, photos, test records).
• Lead engineering activities within a structured product development process (requirements, feasibility, risk assessment, verification/validation, release).
• Create engineering guidelines on insulation, thermal resistance, convection, and refrigerant conditioning.
• Prepare test proposals, technical summaries, and performance recommendations for customers.
