Job summary

Central Plains Steel is hiring a Coil Line Operator in Wichita, KS. This full-time, first-shift role involves setting up and running coil processing equipment to level and cut-to-length metal coils per customer specs.

You will ensure product quality, follow safety procedures, and work closely with teammates to hit daily production goals. The position requires manual dexterity, basic measurement skills, and the ability to operate forklifts and overhead cranes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 0–5 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must meet required physical capabilities (lifting, standing, reaching) and safety training.
• Ability to read and follow work orders and instructions.
• Certification to operate motorized material handling and rigging equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and monitor coil processing to level and cut-to-length metal coils per customer specs.
• Ensure product quality and production efficiency; follow safety procedures.
• Collaborate with team members to meet daily production goals.
• Select materials, sizes, tolerances, and operation sequences per work orders.
• Measure pieces with calipers, micrometers, and scales to verify specifications.
• Move materials using forklift or overhead crane; document work orders and tagging.
• Perform quality inspections and address issues with supervisor.
• Maintain clean, safe, and orderly work area.
