Job summary

Union College’s Facilities Services invites applications for the Cogeneration Plant Supervisor in Schenectady, NY. This leadership role directs operations and maintenance of the cogeneration plant, including steam and chilled water distribution, with focus on safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

The supervisor mentors staff, manages budgets, and coordinates with vendors and project teams to ensure continuous, reliable plant performance for campus services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related field or Navy equivalent education and experience.
• 5–10+ years’ operations and maintenance experience as a Plant Operator.
• Knowledge of high-pressure steam boilers, steam generators, power generation equipment (turbines preferred), and utility distribution.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor plant staff; manage daily schedules and performance reviews.
• Oversee steam, chilled water, and power generation and field utility distribution; ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
• Develop and enforce SOPs; monitor plant data, logs, and reports for internal and external reviews.
