Job summary

Infinx is seeking a qualified Medical Coder with OB/GYN focus to accurately code diagnoses and procedures, including CPT and ICD-10, ensuring maximum reimbursements and minimizing denials. The role supports remote or hybrid work arrangements in Mobile, AL.

Responsibilities include communicating with providers when documentation is insufficient, staying updated on coding changes, and analyzing denial trends to improve client outcomes.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience in medical coding for OB/GYN
  • Nationally recognized coding credential including CPC, COC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIA or RHIT
  • Understanding of CPT, HCPCS, CDT, and ICD-10 codes
  • Knowledge of medical business and revenue cycle operations
  • Proficiency with Office applications (Word, Excel) and clear written communication

Responsibilities

  • Accurately assign and sequence ICD-10 and CPT codes with modifiers
  • Contact clients when documentation is inadequate for coding
  • Monitor regulatory and payer changes affecting coding
  • Research and resolve coding system edits, payer rejections and denials
  • Identify trends to improve client policies and procedures
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding changes via continuing education
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Summary Description:

Under the directions of the Coding Services Supervisor and Manager, this position will be responsible for CPT and ICD-10 coding and ensuring accuracy and maximum reimbursement and minimizing denials.

Location:

Remote or Hybrid in Mobile, AL

Responsibilities:
  • Accurately assign and appropriately sequence ICD-10 and CPT codes and all applicable modifiers
  • Contactclients as appropriate when documentation in the medical record is inadequate, ambiguous or unclear for coding purposes
  • Monitorregulatory and payer changes as they apply to diagnostic and procedure coding
  • Research and resolve coding related system edits, payer rejections and insurance denials
  • Identify system edit, payer rejection, and insurance denial trends for client policy and procedure improvement
  • Maintainup to date knowledge of the current changes of coding practices by continuing education and reading resource material
  • Other innovative and progressive duties as assigned
Skills and Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2 years of experience in medical coding for OB/GYN
  • Nationally recognized coding credential including, but not limited to CPC, COC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIA or RHIT through AHIMA/AAPC
  • Understanding of CPT, HCPCS, CDT, and ICD-10 codes as well as medical terminology
  • Knowledge of medical business and revenue cycle operations
  • Functioning knowledge of Office Applications (Word, Excel, Email etc.)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate clearly and concisely to coworkers, clients, patients, and others
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other team members, as well as supervisors, managers, clients, staff, and providers
  • Ability to multi-task independently and/or with a team while maintaining respect and professionalism
  • Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple responsibilities in a highly organized, efficient, and effective manner
