What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Assign or verify CPT and ICD-10 CM coding and modifiers based on documentation
- Resolve edits for electronic charges, ensuring compliance with all claim requirements
- Monitor charge flow and liaise with department administrators and billing personnel for accurate billing
- Identify and resolve coding and reimbursement issues to minimize claim denials
- Develop and maintain protocols related to assigned coding areas
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 CM coding
- Understanding of medical insurance guidelines and governmental policies
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a billing or coding role
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet established production rates
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members and staff
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience with charge processing and reconciliation in a healthcare setting
- Familiarity with teaching physician and provider documentation policies
- Knowledge of reimbursement processes and strategies to reduce denials
