Job Location: Glacial Ridge Heath System - Glenwood, MN 56334
Salary Range: $25.25 - $34.98 Hourly
Glacial Ridge Health System is hiring a full-time coding Coding Specialist - Hospital Inpatient to apply the appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes to patient health information for data retrieval, analysis, and claims processing. Remote eligible after on-site training in Glenwood.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Completes analysis and applies codes for the following:
- Hospital Inpatient
- ED that transition to Inpatient
- Observation that transition to Inpatient
- Swing Bed
- Transitional Care
- Other areas as assigned.
- Abstracts pertinent information from patient records.
- Assign ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT-4 codes as appropriate.
- Queries physicians and other providers when code assignments are not straightforward or documentation in the record is inadequate, ambiguous, or unclear for coding purposes.
- Keeps abreast of coding guidelines and reimbursement reporting requirements.
- Abides by the Standards of Ethical Coding as set forth by the American Health Information Management Association and adheres to official coding guidelines.
- Submits appropriate information to insurance companies for admission notification.
- Completes medical record review of Inpatient charts as required.
- Completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Minimum of successful completion of a coding certificate program with AHIMA or AAPC approval status.
- RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CIC certification required within six months of hire.
- Coding certification preferred from the American Health Information Management Association.
- Experience as a coder or strong training background in coding and reimbursement preferred.
