Job summary

Baptist Health is seeking an experienced Medical Coder to accurately code Emergency and Outpatient Diagnostic records across its facilities. You will follow ICD10CM and CPT4 coding systems for BHSF facilities and ensure regulatory compliance.

Qualifications include AHIMA CCS or RHIT certification; if not certified at hire, must obtain within 2 years. Strong knowledge of encoder systems and documentation is required, with 1 year of experience preferred.

Qualifications

• AHIMA CCS or RHIT credential required within hire; ongoing certification encouraged.
• AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist and/or RHIT listed as qualifications.
• Minimum 1 year of coding experience in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Accurately codes Emergency and Outpatient Diagnostic records using ICD10CM and CPT4 for BHSF facilities.
• Ensures compliance with coding rules and regulations per CMS, OIG.
• Abstracts prescribed data elements from medical records.

Description:

Accurately codes Emergency and Outpatient Diagnostic records for the classification of all diseases, injuries, procedures, and operations using the ICD10CM and CPT4 coding system for BHSF facilities. Ensures compliance of coding rules and regulations according to Regulatory Agencies (CMS, OIG). Works as a team to meet departmental goals and AR goals. Abstracts prescribed data elements from the medical records. Estimated pay range for this position is $24.39 - $31.71 / hour depending on experience.

Qualifications:

Degrees: High School,Cert,GED,Trn,Exper.

Licenses & Certifications: AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist. AHIMA Registered Health Information Technician.

Additional Qualifications: Required completion of an AHIMA accredited certified coding specialist program and Coding Certificate. If not CCS or RHIT certified upon hire they must obtain within 2 years. Knowledge of encoder system, outpatient prospective payment system; APCs. Knowledge of National Local Coverage Determinations (NCD and LCD) Policies. Competency in Word and Excel. Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, management staff and physicians. Minimum Required Experience: 1 Year
