Job summary

Quest Diagnostics is hiring a Coding Representative - Medical I to translate dictated pathology reports into CPT-4 and ICD-10 codes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. The role runs Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM Central, in Irving, TX, with potential for performance-based bonuses.

Required is a high school diploma, an active CPC license, and at least two years of medical coding experience. Participation in strong wellness and educational programs is encouraged.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Active and unrestricted AAPC CPC license.
• Minimum 2 years of medical coding experience.

Responsibilities

• Apply CPT-4 and ICD-10 codes from dictated pathology reports accurately and timely.
• Assist accounts receivable when coding discrepancies arise due to payor denials.
• Communicate with supervisors, billing reps, and peers to ensure accurate information flow.
• Follow department and company SOPs and participate in special projects as assigned.

Pay range: $22+ per hour

Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

Performs various clerical functions as requested by the manager or senior analysts.

Responsibilities

• Performs various clerical functions as requested by the supervisor or group lead
• Responsibilities include applying CPT-4 and ICD-10 codes by translating dictated pathology reports, in a timely and accurate manner
• Responds to accounts receivable department when coding discrepancies need reviewed due to payor denials
• Effectively communicates with superiors, peers, billing reps and others, as appropriate, on regular basis, assuring proper flow of information
• Understand and follow all department and company SOP's
• Perform special projects assigned by the manager

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
• Active and unrestricted AAPC CPC license
• 2+ years of experience in medical coding

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of related work in billing or laboratory testing preferred
