Job summary

UVA Health seeks a Coding Quality Educator to partner with the Enterprise Professional Coding team. The role focuses on educating coders, providers, residents, and allied health professionals on documentation, coding rules, and payer guidelines.

Ideal candidates bring a Bachelor’s degree and at least five years of coding experience in a tertiary setting, with RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CPC credentials preferred. The role emphasizes education program design and implementation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required or relevant experience may be considered in lieu of Bachelor's degree.
• 5 years relevant experience required. 5 years of coding experience in a tertiary setting preferred.
• Coding certification through the AHIMA or AAPC as RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, CCA, and CPC, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Educate coders, healthcare providers, residents, and allied health professionals on coding best practices, documentation requirements, and payer-specific guidelines.
• Identify opportunities to improve documentation and bridge gaps between clinical documentation and coding/billing guidelines.
• Provide training to enhance the skills of both coders and healthcare providers.
