Job summary

Blanchard Valley Health System is seeking a Manager of Professional Coding Integrity to oversee the coding quality program and team. The role coordinates with providers and clinical leadership to assure compliant ICD-10 and CPT coding, optimized reimbursement, and reduced denials.

The position requires a HIM degree with CPC certification and extensive knowledge of ICD10/DRG/CPT guidelines, along with strong leadership and communication skills. Local applicants in Ohio preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HIM or 4+ years of related experience.
• CPC certification required or achieved within 9 months of hire date.
• Familiarity with ICD10/DRG, CPT/HCPCS, and CPT Assistant/Modifiers.
• Knowledge of revenue cycle workflows across the health system.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EHR/encoder systems.
• Strong problem solving and ability to manage project tasks and timelines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to lead a team.
• Must have valid Ohio driver’s license or obtain one within 30 days of residency.

Responsibilities

• Provide management oversight of the professional coding integrity team and related functions to optimize reimbursement and reduce denials.
• Oversee staffing, training, payroll, performance evaluations, and budget monitoring.
• Support organization goals through engagement, service excellence and cost control.
• Develop and implement compliance plan and coding policies; monitor regulatory changes.
• Oversee quality audit program and action plan to improve coding accuracy.
• Track key metrics and drive continuous performance improvements.
• Collaborate with Corporate Compliance in audits and investigations.
• Maintain open communication with providers on coding practices to align with organizational goals.
• Attend education and meetings to stay current with industry changes and disseminate information.
• Understand and apply federal, state, and third-party coding guidelines; update charge/billing rules.
