Job summary

ChristianaCare is seeking a full-time Coding Coordinator to ensure timely and accurate coding for reimbursement and data collection. This role coordinates daily coding and support staff within Health Information Management Services, driving accuracy and efficiency across inpatient and outpatient accounts.

The position requires RHIA/RHIT/CCS certification or equivalent, plus three years of coding experience. Competitive benefits and a comprehensive benefits program are provided.

Qualifications

• RHIA, RHIT or CCS certification or equivalent certification/degree.
• College credits in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
• Three years coding experience in a Health Information Management Department or equivalent.
• Experience with implementing and maintaining computer systems.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates daily coding and coding support functions of Health Information Management Services.
• Reviews management exception reports, identifies discrepancies and reduces inpatient DNFB.
• Develops coding policies and procedures per CMS, AHIMA, AHA, AMA guidelines.
• Trains staff on guidelines, regulations, codes and data element requirements.
• Verifies coding/abstracting accuracy through quantitative and qualitative reviews.
• Codes inpatient and outpatient accounts to prevent backlog.
