Job summary

Cooper University Health Care is seeking a Coder III to accurately code high acuity inpatient accounts and select outpatient services such as Observation, Radiation Oncology, and Interventional Radiology.

The role requires proficiency with ICD-10-CM/PCS, HCPCS, CPT and related coding references to support timely billing and revenue cycle goals.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in coding high acuity inpatient accounts and/or coding of technical outpatient accounts including Observation, Radiation Oncology, Chemotherapy Infusion, Cardiac Cath/Electrophysiology or Interventional Radiology.
• Uses ICD-10-CM/PCS, HCPCS and CPT references to ensure accurate coding.

Responsibilities

• Codifies medical records for inpatient and/or outpatient services.
• Ensures coding accuracy to support Revenue Cycle timelines.

Short Description

• Coder III demonstrates proficiency in coding high acuity inpatient accounts and/or coding of technical outpatient accounts including, but not limited to Observation, Radiation Oncology, Chemotherapy Infusion, Cardiac Cath/Electrophysiology or Interventional Radiology and Surgery to support Revenue Cycle goals for timely billing.
• Utilizes International Classification of Disease (ICD-10-CM and PCS), Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) including Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and other coding references to ensure accurate coding.

Experience Required

3-5 years required.

Education Requirements

High School/GED required.

License/Certification Requirements

One or more of the following: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CIC, COC, CPC, CCA, CCC, CIRCC, CCVTC and/or any of the Core Credentials or specialty credential of AAPC or AHIMA required.
