Job summary

Cooper University Health Care seeks a Coder III to join the coding team and handle high-acuity inpatient and complex outpatient accounts. This role supports timely billing by applying ICD-10-CM, ICD-PCS, HCPCS, and CPT references with precision.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of coding experience and a High School Diploma, with Associates degree preferred and professional credentials such as RHIA/RHIT/CPC/CIC or similar.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of coding experience required.
• High School Diploma required; Associates degree preferred.
• Certifications such as RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CIC/COC/CPC/CCA/CCC/CIRCC or AHIMA/AAPC core credentials are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Code high-acuity inpatient accounts and advanced outpatient services (e.g., Observation, Radiation Oncology, Chemotherapy Infusion, Cardiac Cath/Electrophysiology).
• Utilize ICD-10-CM/PCS, HCPCS, and CPT references to ensure accurate coding and timely billing.

Short Description

Coder III demonstrates proficiency in coding high acuity inpatient accounts and/or coding of technical outpatient accounts including, but not limited to Observation, Radiation Oncology, Chemotherapy Infusion, Cardiac Cath/Electrophysiologyor Interventional Radiology and Surgery to support Revenue Cycle goals for timely billing. Utilizes International Classification of Disease (ICD-10-CM and PCS), Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) including Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and other coding references to ensure accurate coding.

Experience Required

3-5 years required.

License/Certification Requirements

One or more of the following: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CIC, COC, CPC, CCA, CCC, CIRCC, CCVTC and/or any of the Core Credentials or specialty credential of AAPC or AHIMA.
