Expected pay is $25.10 - $29.54/hour, determined by experience, skills, and internal equity. This is an hourly position.

Overview

Seeking someone with hospital/facility/CPT coding experience. Training will be discussed during the interview. PRN as needed, 10-20 hours per week. Limited benefits. Fully remote position, any location.

Position Summary

The Coder assigns accurate ICD-CM/PCS & CPT/HCPCS codes to diagnoses and procedures on inpatient, outpatient, and ambulatory encounters, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines. Works closely with revenue cycle team to ensure proper billing and reimbursement.

Qualifications

Required:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Completion of a college course in medical terminology
• Must obtain one of these certifications within 1 year: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCA, or CPC
• Basic knowledge of ICD-CM/PCS and CPT guidelines
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy/physiology, disease processes, medical records, and hospital procedures
• Ability to concentrate, communicate effectively, and provide excellent customer service

Preferred:

• Associate’s degree in Health Information Management or related field
• Completion of a coding certificate program
• 1 year hospital or professional coding experience
