Job summary

The City of Auburn Hills is seeking an Ordinance Enforcement Officer to perform routine and complex code enforcement across weeds, housing, building, zoning, refuse and pollution control. You will ensure owner/tenant compliance with city ordinances and standards, and interact with the public to explain requirements.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma or GED, a valid Michigan driver’s license, and relevant training or study in building construction or related fields.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid Michigan Driver's License required.
• Two years of college in building construction, engineering, planning, or related field preferred.
• Experience in code enforcement or related field is a plus.
• Thorough knowledge of city codes and enforcement procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex code enforcement work on property compliance (weeds, housing, building, zoning, refuse, pollution).
• Communicate effectively with the public, both orally and in writing, to explain codes and requirements.
• Collaborate with city departments to enforce ordinances and standards.
