The Building Official/ Code Enforcement Supervisor assigns work in terms of general instructions. Completed work is checked for compliance with procedures, accuracy and the nature and propriety of the final results.
Guidelines include local and standard building codes and regulations, relevant city ordinances and regulations, secretarial manuals, illegal dumping and departmental procedures. These guidelines are generally clear and specific, but require some interpretation in application.

Occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds. Work is typically performed in both standard office and outdoor environments, with potential exposure to adverse weather conditions. Work is occasionally performed in high and precarious places and near moving mechanical parts. Occasional exposure to the risk of electric shock, fumes, airborne particles, infectious diseases, and criminal suspects.
