Job summary

Rockingham County is seeking a qualified candidate to perform intermediate technical work enforcing zoning ordinances and environmental codes. The role involves inspecting properties, maintaining records, and preparing reports, with work performed under the moderate supervision of the Director of Community Development.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, Basic Law Enforcement Training Certification, and 1–4 years of related experience or an equivalent education/experience

Responsibilities

• Enforce zoning ordinances and environmental codes.
• Inspect properties to ensure compliance with codes and regulations.
• Maintain records and prepare reports related to inspections and enforcement actions.
• Work under moderate supervision of the Director of Community Development.

Education

High school diploma or GED plus related experience in building/construction trade and Basic Law Enforcement Training Certification

One to four years of directly related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

Minimum Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED and considerable experience in the building construction trade and have obtained Basic Law Enforcement Training Certification and one (1) – four (4) years of directly related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

License or Certification Requirements

• Valid NC Driver’s License.


• NC Basic Law Enforcement Training Certification.
