Job summary

Gwinnett County is seeking a Code Enforcement Officer to respond to citizen inquiries, conduct field investigations for code compliance, and prepare case reports. The role includes researching plans, data entry, and issuing notices or citations.

The position requires an Associate degree, driver’s license, and security certification within six months of employment, with opportunities for level II/III progression and training. A comprehensive benefits package is offered.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree and one year of code enforcement experience, inspections, or customer service experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and Security and Awareness Certification within six months of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to citizen questions and complaints and perform field investigations to determine code compliance.
  • Research property information by reviewing plans and accessing databases.
  • Perform data entry of zoning and other property information.
  • Understand current laws relating to codes and compliance.
  • Issue notices and citations and complete reports detailing findings.
  • Assist supervisor with administrative reports and train new employees (level II).
  • Prepare and present cases to the Environmental Division of Recorders Court.
