Job summary

The City of Evans is seeking a Code Enforcement Officer I/II to enforce municipal nuisance ordinances, interact with residents, and support Neighborhood Services programs. The role requires documenting violations, communicating required actions, and coordinating abatements with the Neighborhood Services Manager.

This position may lead seasonal staff and requires valid Colorado license, basic certification, and the ability to work a varying schedule.

Qualifications

• 1 year of customer service experience.
• 3 years of code enforcement experience.
• Valid Colorado Driver's License or ability to obtain within six months.
• Code Enforcement Officer Basic Certification or enrollment within two years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Enforce municipal ordinances on nuisance issues such as weeds, trash, junk, and graffiti.
• Identify code violations related to land use, zoning, and signage.
• Document violations with notices, inspections, and citations.
• Communicate with property owners and residents about required actions.
• Prepare reports, photos, and follow‑ups to verify compliance.
• Lead seasonal staff and participate in training activities.
• Coordinate with Neighborhood Services Manager on abatements and enforcement.
• Maintain city right‑of‑way and respond to citizen inquiries.
