Job summary

Clermont County Building Department is seeking a Building Inspector to join our team. The role involves conducting inspections on residential, commercial, and industrial properties to ensure safety and compliance with Ohio codes.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma (or GED) or ICC Permit Technician Certification and must obtain Residential Code Official or Residential Electrical Inspector Specialization within one year of hire.
• 1–4 years of commercial trade experience, or related education or certifications, or equivalent combination as outlined in the posting.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record; ability to read, write, and communicate effectively; customer service-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Inspect residential, commercial, and industrial properties for safety and code compliance.
• Coordinate with contractors and property owners to guide code-compliance efforts.
• Document findings, complete daily logs and reports of code violations.
• Respond to referrals and ensure compliance with Ohio Administrative Code regulations.
• Attend meetings and training to stay current with industry standards.
