Job summary

The City and County of Broomfield, via the Broomfield Police Department's Code Compliance Unit, is seeking a Code Compliance Officer to enforce municipal codes and serve as a community ambassador. You will work with residents and businesses to promote compliance and protect public health and property values.

This role involves field inspections, documentation, and coordination with other departments while upholding equity and safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or GED equivalent required.
• 60 college semester hours preferred.

Responsibilities

• Patrol streets and identify violations of municipal codes, including weeds, junk vehicles, zoning, and encampments.
• Respond to citizen inquiries and communicate with residents and businesses; issue notices or citations and document actions.
• Write reports, take photographs, send corrective orders, and follow up to ensure compliance.
• Conduct presentations to educate the public on code compliance issues and solutions.
• Identify and recommend improvements to departmental operations for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Take safety precautions and anticipate potential hazards.
• Manage workload to meet departmental goals.
• Collaborate with other departments and agencies; provide reports as required.
• Train new employees on code compliance duties and assist with planning, coordination, and training.
• Maintain operational records; enter and retrieve information as needed.
• Ensure proper maintenance of equipment and facilities.
• Maintain confidentiality and ensure duties align with regulations and Municipal Code.
