Job summary

The City of Woonsocket seeks a Code Enforcement Officer to conduct inspections, investigate violations, and identify health hazards and unsafe conditions under the guidance of the Senior Code Enforcement Officer.

You will communicate violations and required corrective actions to property owners, residents, and professionals while upholding municipal codes and standards. A high school diploma or GED and four years in construction are required, plus a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience in a construction field (e.g., plumbing, electrical, carpentry) required or substituted by college training in the field.
• Knowledge of enforcement principles for regulatory codes pertaining to municipal law.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections and investigate violations of local ordinances and the RI Property Management Code.
• Identify health hazards, nuisance violations, and unsafe or blighted property conditions.
• Communicate violations and corrective actions to property owners, residents, real estate agents, contractors and city staff.
