Job summary

The position requires high school diploma, valid driver's license, and within 1 year obtain Class 3-A certification. Work is performed with general supervision, focusing on consistent procedures and public safety.

Qualifications

• Requires High School graduation or GED.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license.
• Must obtain Class 3-A (Advance) certification from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Inspect properties, structures, and vacant lots for compliance with county codes and ordinances.
• Drive, investigate, observe, and collect evidence including photos and data for violations.
• Draft notices and communicate with contractors and owners, both in writing and verbally.
• Present cases and evidence to the court for enforcement of codes.
• Issue work orders and supervise crews as needed.
• Assist in securing buildings and maintaining equipment in good condition.
• Inspect and address illegal dumpsites and roadside trash; issue citations where appropriate.
• Supervise Community Service Workers and enforce litter control statutes.
