Job summary

Qualifications

• Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent.
• Requires some experience in construction and building inspection or closely related experience.
• Must obtain ICC certifications within specified timeframes after hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform all phases of inspections on new structures and renovations of existing structures.
• Inspect structures using engineering skills to determine structural soundness and compliance with building codes and regulations.
• Conduct plumbing, HVAC, electrical inspections and plan reviews as needed.
• Issue permits and conduct city-wide checks to ensure permits are obtained.
• Respond to inquiries and code compliance complaints via phone and walk-ins.
• Monitor installations to ensure compliance with regulations and proper workmanship.
• Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, or elevation to match plans and codes.
• Be on call for emergency structure issues and respond as required.
