Certerra - Southern Engineering is seeking a Building Inspector in Charleston, SC to perform technical inspections of commercial and industrial construction. The role combines fieldwork with collaboration among contractors, engineers, architects, and clients to ensure code compliance and quality.

The ideal candidate holds the South Carolina Standard Building Inspector License, a valid SC driver’s license, and can travel to job sites in the southeast.

Qualifications

• Current South Carolina Standard Building Inspector License is required.
• Valid South Carolina driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Ability to pass required background screening.

Responsabilités

• Perform building and structural inspections on commercial and industrial construction projects, including buildings under construction, repair, remodeling, or expansion.
• Conduct inspections at various stages of construction to verify compliance with building codes, plans, specs, ordinances, and project requirements.
• Inspect foundations, concrete slabs, structural framing, roofing, and related construction activities.
• Perform mechanical, electrical, and plumbing inspections within license qualifications.
• Review plans, blueprints, and specs and identify code or construction issues.
• Determine whether changes to plans or construction may be required and communicate recommendations to stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and current inspection records.
• Prepare clear, timely inspection reports and other required documentation.
