Responsibilities

  • Greet guests and provide attentive, professional service.
  • Take beverage orders, enter into POS, and deliver promptly.
  • Recommend cocktails, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic options.
  • Verify ID and comply with California alcohol laws (RBS).
  • Maintain clean service areas and assist with opening/closing side work.
  • Coordinate with bartenders, barbacks, kitchen, and management.

Description

TheCocktail Server provides professional and attentive beverage service to guests in the bar, lounge, patio, and other designated service areas. This position is responsible for accurately taking beverage orders, delivering alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, maintaining a clean and guest-ready environment, and complying with California responsible beverage service laws and all company health and safety standards.

The Cocktail Server must demonstrate strong product knowledge, excellent guest service skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced hospitality environment while maintaining a clean, neat, and professional appearance in accordance with Mission Ranch’s hospitality, uniform, and grooming standards.

  • Key Responsibilities
  • Greet guests promptly and provide friendly, professional, and attentive service
  • Accurately take beverage orders, enter them into the POS system, and deliver beverages in a timely manner
  • Provide knowledgeable recommendations regarding cocktails, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages
  • Anticipate guest needs and resolve concerns promptly and courteously
  • Verify guest identification and ensure compliance with California alcohol service laws and Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) guidelines
  • Monitor guest alcohol consumption and refuse service when appropriate
  • Process payments accurately and reconcile checks at the end of shift
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned service areas, including completion of opening and closing side work
  • Communicate effectively with bartenders, barbacks, kitchen staff, and management to ensure seamless service
  • Support banquet or special event beverage service as assigned
  • Follow all Cal/OSHA, health department, food safety, and responsible beverage service regulations
  • Maintain professionalism and composure in a fast-paced environment
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements

Qualifications & Skills

  • CA Food Handler and Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification required
  • Strong working knowledge of food and beverage service operations
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, guest service skills
  • Ability to multitask efficiently during high-volume service
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and adhere to Mission Ranch’s uniform and grooming standards
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be at least 21 years of age (per California alcohol service regulations)

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Minimum of two (2) years of related experience in food and beverage, hospitality, or bar operations

Physical Requirements

  • Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
  • Frequently use hands and arms to mix, pour, garnish, and serve beverages
  • Lift and carry bar supplies weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Bend, stoop, reach, and move quickly in confined service areas
  • Hear and communicate clearly in a busy environment
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision for reading tickets and measuring pours
  • A fast-paced, guest-service environment with frequent interruptions and time-sensitive demands
  • Moderate to high noise levels during peak service hours from guests, music, and restaurant equipment
  • Indoor and occasional outdoor exposure, including variable temperatures when greeting or seating guests near patios or entryways
  • Bright or dim lighting conditions depending on time of day and section of the restaurant.
  • Proximity to kitchen and service areas, which may include exposure to food aromas, cleaning chemicals, and hot surfaces
  • Occasional contact with moving mechanical parts, such as door mechanisms, service carts, or kitchen equipment
  • Frequent standing and walking on hard surfaces such as tiles or concrete floor
  • Team-oriented, cooperative atmosphere, requiring constant communication with staff and management
  • Requirement to follow all safety and sanitation protocols, including compliance with Cal/OSHA, health department standards, and company safety procedures
