Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Manufacturing Automation Engineer - Cobots to lead the development, deployment and sustainment of automation solutions across GPS manufacturing sites. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering and manufacturing experience in automation.
• Five+ years leading manufacturing automation or related projects.
• Experience launching and sustaining automated equipment in plant settings.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% or more during project phases.

Responsibilities

• Visit manufacturing plants and assess current processes and constraints.
• Identify and prioritize automation opportunities to improve safety, ergonomics, quality and cost.
• Conduct feasibility studies on cobots, robots, vision systems, controls, tooling and sensors.
• Lead turnkey automation projects from concept through launch and sustainment.
• Develop project scopes, technical specs, plans, timing, deliverables and risk plans.
• Obtain quotes; lead supplier and integrator selection with stakeholders.
• Coordinate reviews with engineering and manufacturing teams; ensure safety and compliance.
• Manage project timing, risks, issues and dependencies; report status.
• Validate equipment capability and process performance before transition to plant ownership.
• Develop standard work, training materials and lessons learned.
