Job summary

Cobb is hiring for an egg-pack/ hatchery position in the United States. The role involves packing eggs, maintaining hatchery equipment, and ensuring sanitary work areas. The schedule is generally 1st shift with a ~40-hour workweek.

Starting pay is $17.00 per hour with differential for evenings, nights and weekends. Benefits include insurance, 401(k) and life insurance, plus education and relocation support where applicable.

Qualifications

  • Must have at least 12 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no additional job gaps in employment greater than 6 months in the past 36 months.
  • If applicants have been laid off or providing child or elder care, the employment gap will be increased to 18 months.
  • Rehire criteria is a minimum waiting period of 180 days and no more than 3 rehires at Cobb/Tyson Foods.

Responsibilities

  • Packing eggs, sanitizing egg flats/trays, racks, buggies, and all other hatchery equipment and rooms.
  • Operate egg pack machine and a strapping machine for cases of eggs.
  • Monitor temperatures in hatchers/setters and maintain cleanliness and safety of the hatchery area.

Schedule

Responsibilities occasionally may require an adjusted work schedule. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, including holidays until job is complete.

Typically, these positions average 40 hours a week.

Hours: Beginning between 4:00 and 7:00 a.m. Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for packing eggs, sanitizing egg flats/trays, racks, buggies, and all other hatchery equipment and rooms.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Running egg pack machine to pack eggs, using a strapping machine to strap cases of eggs. (45%)
  • Monitor and record temperatures in the hatchers and setters. (5%)
  • Clean and sanitize Hatchery and Equipment: Operate a high pressure and regular water hose, maintain foot pans and hand sanitizers, pack export eggs into cases, assist Egg Pack Lead as needed, assist Sanitation as needed, maintain a clean and organized work area. (50%)
Biosecurity / Animal Welfare Requirements

The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. The Company provides appropriate clothing and footwear. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. Physical: Must use safe lifting techniques. Must be able to life/move 50 lbs. and must be able to push/pull 500-1000 lbs. Overhead lifting is required. Required to work on wet and slippery surfaces each day.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand majority of shift (concrete floor); walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; bend over; talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.

Tools and Equipment

Proficiency of use of Tray Washer, Buggy Wash, and High-Pressure hose.

Environment

Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and in hot, dry, dusty, wet, and cold environments.

Personal Protective Equipment Required

Safety glasses, Safety goggles, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, and rubber boots are required when handling chemicals. Ear plugs and earmuffs will be used as needed.

Chemicals Commonly Used

Formaldehyde is in use at the facility, disinfectant, lubricants and Virocid.

Safety

Team Member is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, Lock out Tag out, and Personal Protective equipment. Team Member is expected to identify, address, and mitigate safety related risks.
