Job summary

Bigham Cable Construction, Inc. is seeking a Coax Splicer to perform aerial and underground cable upgrades, splice work, and post-installation testing. You will document daily production and ensure compliance with industry standards.

The role requires a valid driver’s license, ability to pass a DOT physical, and prior coax splicing or telecom experience. You’ll thrive in a hands-on environment with safety as a priority.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Authorization to work in the United States for this company.
  • High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience.
  • Valid State driver's license with clean driving record.
  • Must pass a DOT physical exam and obtain a valid medical card.
  • Six months of coax splicing experience or one year in telecommunications.
  • Certified pole climber or able to demonstrate pole-climbing proficiency is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cable upgrades and splicing tasks, both aerial and underground, with guidance.
  • Test, activate, and troubleshoot equipment after installation.
  • Ensure all splicing operations meet customer and industry standards.
  • Safely work at various heights from underground to the air.
  • Complete basic daily vehicle maintenance and document work via reports.

What you’ll do
  • With guidance, perform cable upgrades and splicing tasks, both aerial and underground
  • Test, activate, and troubleshoot equipment post-installation
  • Ensure all splicing operations meet strict customer and industry standards
  • Safely navigate working at different heights, from underground to in the air
  • Complete basic daily maintenance of vehicles, including fluid checks
  • Document work performed through daily production reports, including marking up maps and keeping correct material usage records
  • Other duties as assigned
What you’ll need
  • To be 18 years of age or older
  • Authorization to work in the United States for this company
  • High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
  • Valid State driver's license (cannot be considered Provisional), including an acceptable driving record
  • Must be able to pass a DOT physical exam, resulting in a valid medical card
  • Six months of coax splicing experience or one year of experience in the telecommunications industry
  • Certified pole climber or capable of demonstrating proficiency as a pole climber, is preferred


Physical abilities & exposures

  • Routinely: work in confined space, operate vehicle and heavy machinery, squeeze, fine hand motion, work alone in remote locations with arms above shoulder level, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs and lift greater than 55 pounds, use keyboard and mouse
  • Occasionally: use ladder and gaffs for climbing poles
