Job summary

Axalta is seeking a Laboratory Technician at our Philadelphia facility to support the Global Innovation Center. You will design experiments, prepare coat formulations, run tests, and document results while ensuring safety and inventory control. You’ll train junior staff and may travel for customer support as needed.

The role emphasizes hands-on lab work, data analysis, and collaboration with scientists to drive coating advances for performance and mobility coatings.

Qualifications

• Two-year degree with 3+ years in an industrial lab, or a 4-year degree in physical/life science with chemistry exposure.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing experiments, run them, and summarize data.
• Prepare and evaluate coating formulations with mixers and spray equipment.
• Accurately run and record test results for formulations.
• Troubleshoot lab issues and collaborate with investigators.
• Document findings and communicate results; help plan work.
• Maintain chemical inventory and equipment.
• Train other R&D technicians.
• Travel to customer locations for meetings and support.
