Job summary

Sherwin-Williams is seeking an Associate Chemist for our Coil Coatings division to develop new technologies and platforms for high performance coatings. You will collaborate with a mentor chemist on experiments, formulations, and data documentation while upholding safety and confidentiality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math field.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Ability to determine color differences to tint paint accurately.
• Experience working with MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with a mentor chemist developing, reformulating, maintaining and enhancing products through planning, executing and analysis of experiments with clear and accurate results.
• Display a basic working knowledge of chemicals, raw materials, substrate preparation and instruments in a lab environment.
• Input data, data analysis and technical documentation daily into lab books or a database.
• Work under supervision, with potential to lead projects and train others in guidelines and best practices.
• Use advanced technologies to develop products with noticeable consumer benefits.
• Perform basic paint making processes and coating formulations, tests and applications.
• Provide timely data to help resolve field complaints, material issues, and production problems.
• Maintain excellent organizational and communication skills and adhere to safety standards.
