Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math field.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to determine color differences to tint paint accurately.
  • Experience working with MS Office.

  • Work closely with a mentor chemist developing, reformulating, maintaining and enhancing products through planning, executing and analysis of experiments with clear and accurate results.
  • Display a basic working knowledge of chemicals, raw materials, substrate preparation and instruments in a lab environment.

  • Work under supervision, with potential to lead projects and train others in guidelines and best practices.

  • Perform basic paint making processes and coating formulations, tests and applications.
  • Provide timely data to help resolve field complaints, material issues, and production problems.
  • Maintain excellent organizational and communication skills and adhere to safety standards.

Job description

The Associate Chemist position in our Coil Coatings division that is responsible for a variety of exciting activities related to developing new technologies and new platforms in our high performance coatings.

Job duties include contact with other employees and access confidential and proprietary information and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. The Company therefore has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and is necessary to protect the safety of the Company’s staff, employees, and business relationships.

  • Work closely with a mentor chemist developing, reformulating, maintaining and enhancing products through planning, executing and analysis of experiments with clear and accurate results.
  • Display a basic working knowledge of the use of chemicals, raw materials, substrate preparation and use instruments commonly found in a lab environment
  • Responsible for inputting data, data analysis and technical documentation daily into lab books or a database.
  • Function under substantial supervision, but may lead individual or group projects. Responsible for training other employees in formulating guidelines and best practices.
  • Utilize advanced technologies to develop products that demonstrate improvements and difference that consumer can perceive and will desire.
  • Perform basic paint making processes, meets manufactures specifications
  • Perform basic coating formulations, applications and physical/performance testing methods
  • Provide timely and accurate data to help resolve field complaints, raw material issues, manufacturing problems, and support existing and new product development
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Adhere to company safety standards at all times
  • Additional duties as assigned
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future (e.g., OPT, CPT, H1B, EB-1,etc.)
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math field.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to determine the difference between colors so you can correctly tint paint to the colors desired by customers.
  • Experience working with MS Office
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 1 year industrial coatings Chemist lab experience
  • 1-2 years of professional coatings formulation experience or a combination of academic lab and or Internships /Co-op experience
  • Strong color matching skills in solid shade and effect coatings

Travel Requirements: 10%

This position is not eligible for sponsorship for work authorization now or in the future, including conversion to H-1B visa.

Successful candidate will be required to sign an Employee Restrictive Covenant Agreement where permitted by law.

This position is also eligible for bonus based on performance and subject to the terms of the Company’s applicable plans.
