Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Coatings Inspector II to lead coating and lining inspections on industrial, water, and infrastructure projects in Texas. You will plan hold points, verify prep, application, and cure, and sign off at each point while coordinating with applicators and owners.

The role requires CIP Level 2 certification with 2+ years experience, knowledge of SSPC/NACE standards, and comfort supervising Level 1 inspectors on larger jobs; travel to project sites is expected.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 2 certification required and current; 2+ years inspecting under it.
• Knowledge of SSPC/NACE surface preparation standards and common industrial coating systems.
• Experience on tank, pipeline, water/wastewater, or structural steel coating projects.
• Ability to stop an application that is out of specification and document it to close.

Responsibilities

• Plan inspection hold points and testing per coating specification and manufacturer data.
• Verify surface preparation, application, and cure with sign-off authority at each hold point.
• Perform adhesion, holiday, and cure testing; dispose defects and specify repairs.
• Supervise Level 1 inspectors on larger projects and review their logs.
• Write inspection and nonconformance reports; represent the program to owner and applicator.
