Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Coatings Inspector II to lead inspection of protective coatings on industrial projects. You will plan hold points, verify surface prep, application, and cure, and sign off at each stage.

The role includes adhesion, holiday, and cure testing, with defect disposition and repair specification. You will supervise Level 1 inspectors on larger projects, review their logs, and produce inspection and nonconformance reports for owners and applicators.

Qualifications

CIP Level 2 certification with 2+ years inspecting under it.
Familiarity with SSPC/NACE surface prep standards and common industrial coating systems.
Experience on tank, pipeline, water/wastewater, or structural steel coating projects.
Ability to stop an application that is out of specification and document it to close the issue.

Responsibilities

Plan inspection hold points and testing per the coating specification and data sheet.
Verify surface preparation, application, and cure with sign-off at each hold point.
Perform adhesion, holiday, and cure testing; disposition defects and specify repairs.
Supervise Level 1 inspectors on larger projects and review their logs; write inspection and nonconformance reports.
Represent the inspection program to the owner and applicator.
