Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector II to lead inspection of protective coating and lining work on industrial, water, and infrastructure projects. You will plan hold points, verify surface prep, application, and cure, perform adhesion and holiday tests, and write inspection reports relied upon by the owner and engineer.

Travel to project sites and supervision of Level 1 inspectors are part of the role.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 2 certification current with 2+ years inspecting under it.
• Command of SSPC/NACE surface preparation standards and common industrial coating systems.
• Experience on tank, pipeline, water/wastewater, or structural steel coating projects.
• Ability to stop an application out of specification and document it so it closes.

Responsibilities

• Plan inspection hold points and testing from coating specification and manufacturer's data.
• Verify surface preparation, application, and cure with sign-off authority at each hold point.
• Perform adhesion, holiday, and cure testing.
• Disposition defects and specify repairs.
• Supervise Level 1 inspectors on larger projects and review their logs.
• Write inspection and nonconformance reports.
• Represent the inspection program to the owner and applicator.
