Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector II to lead inspection of protective coating and lining work on industrial, water, and infrastructure projects, with sign-off authority at hold points. You will verify surface prep, application, and cure, perform adhesion and holiday testing, resolve nonconformances, and write inspection reports relied on by owners and engineers.

This role requires AMPP CIP Level 2, 2+ years' experience, and ability to supervise Level 1 inspectors on

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 2 certification, current, with 2+ years inspecting under it.
• Familiar with SSPC/NACE surface preparation standards and common industrial coating systems.
• Experience on tank, pipeline, water/wastewater, or structural steel coating projects.

Responsibilities

• Plan hold points and testing from coating specification and manufacturer data; sign off at each point.
• Verify surface prep, application, and cure with sign-off authority.
• Perform adhesion, holiday, and cure testing; disposition defects and specify repairs.
• Supervise Level 1 inspectors on larger projects and review their logs; maintain report quality.
• Write inspection and nonconformance reports; represent program to owner and applicator.
