Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Coatings Inspector II to lead inspection of protective coatings on industrial, water, and infrastructure projects. You will plan hold points, verify surface prep, supervise Level 1 inspectors, and sign off on coating progression and cures.

Qualifications include AMPP CIP Level 2 with 2+ years, SSPC/NACE standards expertise, and experience on tank, pipeline, or structural steel coatings. Travel and per diem are involved.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 2 certification with 2+ years of inspection under it.
• Strong knowledge of SSPC/NACE surface preparation standards and common industrial coating systems.
• Experience on tank, pipeline, water/wastewater, or structural steel coating projects.
• Ability to stop an application that is out of specification and document it so it closes.

Responsibilities

• Plan inspection hold points and testing from the coating specification and manufacturer data.
• Verify surface preparation, application, and cure with sign-off authority at each hold point.
• Perform adhesion, holiday, and cure testing; disposition defects and specify repairs.
• Supervise Level 1 inspectors on larger projects and review their logs; write inspection and nonconformance reports.
• Represent the inspection program to the owner and applicator.
