Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Coatings Inspector II to lead protective coating inspections on industrial, water, and infrastructure projects. You will sign off at hold points, verify surface prep and cure, and perform adhesion and holiday testing while guiding Level 1 inspectors.

Required CIP Level 2 certification with 2+ years experience and familiarity with tank, pipeline, or structural coatings. You will document nonconformances and communicate with owners and applicators.

Qualifications

• CIP Level 2 certification current with 2+ years inspecting under it.
• Knowledge of SSPC/NACE surface preparation standards and common industrial coating systems.
• Experience on tank, pipeline, water/wastewater, or structural steel coating projects.
• Ability to stop an application that is out of specification and document it to close the issue.

Responsibilities

• Plan inspection hold points and testing from the coating specification and manufacturer data.
• Verify surface preparation, application and cure with sign-off authority at each hold point.
• Perform adhesion, holiday, and cure testing; disposition defects and specify repairs.
• Supervise Level 1 inspectors on larger projects and review their logs.
• Write inspection and nonconformance reports; represent the inspection program to owner and applicator.
