Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector I to conduct basic coating inspections under supervision. You will verify surface prep against SSPC/NACE standards, measure ambient conditions, and document all stages of coating application on tanks, structural steel, pipe, and concrete.

The role requires an active AMPP CIP Level 1 certification and 1+ year experience in industrial coatings inspection or application, with meticulous recording of measurements and daily logs.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 1 certification current
• 1+ years in industrial coatings inspection or application
• Comfortable working around tanks, structures, blasting and spray operations
• Meticulous with instruments and records

Responsibilities

• Perform basic inspection of protective coating work under the direction of a CIP Level 2 or 3 inspector; verify surface preparation against SSPC/NACE standards; measure ambient conditions and surface profile; check wet and dry film thickness; document coating application steps on tanks, structures, pipe and concrete.
• Measure and record ambient conditions (temperature, humidity, dew point) before and during application; verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile; measure film thickness and check for holidays/defects; verify coating materials and batch data; maintain daily inspection log and photograph stages.
