Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic inspections of protective coating work under a Level 2 or 3 inspector. You will verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE standards, measure ambient conditions and surface profile, and document all steps of coating application on tanks, structural steel, pipe, and concrete.

This role requires AMPP CIP Level 1 certification and 1+ year of experience in industrial coatings inspection.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 1 certification is required and current.
• 1+ years in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Comfortable working around tanks, blasting, and spray operations.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record ambient conditions before and during application.
• Verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standards.
• Measure wet film and dry film thickness; check for holidays and defects.
• Verify coatings materials, batch numbers, mixing, and pot life against data sheets.
• Maintain daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage of work.
