Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic inspections of protective coating work under supervision. You will verify surface prep, measure ambient conditions and film thickness, and document each stage on tanks, structures, and pipes.

The role offers hands-on field work in Texas with potential for progression to CIP Level 2 after required experience and training sponsorship by the company.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 1 certification required.
• 1+ years in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Ability to work around blasting and spray operations.
• Meticulous with instruments and records.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record ambient conditions (temperature, humidity, dew point) before and during application.
• Verify surface preparation to the specified SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standard.
• Measure wet film and dry film thickness and check for holidays and defects.
• Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing, and pot life against the manufacturer's data sheet.
• Keep the daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage of the work.
