Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic inspection of protective coating work under higher-level inspectors. You will verify surface prep, measure film thickness, and document each step on tanks, structures, pipes, and concrete.

Requires AMPP CIP Level 1 certification and at least 1 year in industrial coatings. The role involves field work around blasting and spray operations with attention to precise records and readings.

Qualifications

• AMPP (NACE) CIP Level 1 certification is required.
• 1+ years in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Comfortable working around blasting and spray operations.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record ambient conditions (temperature, humidity, dew point) before and during application.
• Verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standard.
• Measure wet film and dry film thickness and check for holidays and defects.
• Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing, and pot life against the manufacturer's data sheet.
• Keep the daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage of the work.
