Job summary

JMT's Pittsburgh Construction Management Team is seeking a Coatings Inspector for PennDOT, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, and municipal highway and bridge projects. You will apply standard inspection procedures to ongoing activities during and after construction for quality, safety and conformance to plans, specifications and codes.

The position requires at least 6 months in structural steel coatings inspection, 8 hours of training in coatings inspection tools, and proficiency with

Qualifications

• 6 months of experience in structural steel coatings inspection.
• 8 hours of documented training in coatings inspection tools and equipment (incl. lead hazards).
• Computer/IPAD proficiency preferred.

Responsibilities

• Gather and maintain record documents
• Make field notes and computations
• Document ambient conditions during abrasive blasting and coating application
• Check surface preparation using equipment and referenced standards
• Verify profile depth and salt contamination levels on surfaces
• Inspect coating applications and compare with specs
