Job summary

ATANE is seeking an experienced Coating / Painting Inspector to support bridge, structural steel, and transportation infrastructure projects across New Jersey and New York. The ideal candidate will have field inspection experience with surface preparation, abrasive blasting, protective coating systems, containment, environmental compliance, and QA/QC on bridge and highway projects.

Preferred candidates possess AMPP/NACE/SSPC certifications and have worked on NJDOT, NYSDOT, or similar public

Qualifications

Experience inspecting bridge painting and protective coatings.
Knowledge of SSPC/AMPP surface standards and coating requirements.
Experience with lead-containing coatings, containment, and environmental controls is desirable.
Ability to travel to NJ/NY project sites.

Responsibilities

Inspect structural steel surface preparation, abrasive blasting, cleaning, and painting operations.
Verify compliance with SSPC/AMPP standards and coating manufacturer requirements.
Document containment systems and environmental protection measures.
Measure ambient conditions, surface temperature, humidity, and film thickness as required.
Verify coating materials, mixing, induction time, and curing requirements.
Identify defects and document corrective actions.
Monitor OSHA, environmental, and safety compliance.
Prepare daily inspection reports, photos, and project records.
Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and suppliers.
Perform inspections during day, night, or off-hours when required.
