Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic coating inspections under a CIP Level 2/3 inspector's direction, documenting coating activities on tanks, structural steel, pipe, and concrete.

You will measure ambient conditions, verify surface prep, film thickness, and log all inspections. The role requires AMPP CIP Level 1 certification and meticulous instrument use and record-keeping.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 1 certification current.
• 1+ years in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Comfortable working around tanks, structures, blasting and spray operations.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record ambient conditions (temperature, humidity, dew point) before and during application.
• Verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standard.
• Measure wet film and dry film thickness; check for holidays and defects.
• Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing and pot life against data sheet.
• Maintain daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage of the work.
