Construction Material Testing seeks a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic inspections of protective coating work under a CIP Level 2 or 3 inspector's direction until competency is reached. You will verify surface prep, measure film thickness, and document each coating stage on tanks, structures, and concrete.

The role emphasizes meticulous measurements, accurate logs, and adherence to SSPC/NACE AMPP standards.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 1 certification current.
• 1+ years in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Comfortable working in tanks, on structures, and around blasting and spray operations.
• Meticulous with instruments and records.
• Honest about what the gauge reads.

Responsibilities

• Measure ambient conditions (temperature, humidity, dew point) before and during application.
• Verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standards.
• Measure wet film and dry film thickness and check for holidays/defects.
• Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing and pot life against datasheets.
• Keep the daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage of work.
