Job summary

Construction Material Testing in Pearl City, Hawaii, is seeking a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic inspection of protective coating work under the direction of a CIP Level 2 or 3 inspector. You will verify surface prep against SSPC/NACE standards, measure ambient conditions, and document every step of coating application on tanks, structural steel, pipe, and concrete.

You will maintain daily inspection logs, check film thickness, holidays and defects, verify materials against data sheets,

Qualifications

• AMPP (NACE) CIP Level 1 certification, current.
• 1+ years in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Comfortable working around tanks, structures, blasting and spray operations.
• Meticulous with instruments and records.
• Ability to read and follow SSPC/NACE standards.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record ambient conditions before and during application.
• Verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standards.
• Measure wet film and dry film thickness; check holidays/defects.
• Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing, and pot life.
• Maintain the daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage of the work.
